review 1: Exquisitely beautiful. Each child is from a different culture, and sails through dreams in their own boat. The pictures are full of imagery of that culture, and are coloured in the most beautiful colours and patterns. The adventures these sleepers have is an homage to not only the beliefs of other cultures, but to the power of a child's imagination. The words too follow this idea, and have a slightly dreamlike quality to them, as a result of this advanced style, Dream Boats will only be appreciated by older children.
