review 1: I listened to the audiobook version rear by Anjelica herself. At first I was put off by her descriptive writing style, every person is detailed down to what they were wearing and behaving that day, and rooms, places, food and drink are described in detail, but I became used to it and appreciated the knowledge. John Huston fled the US in the 50s because of his fight against the House of Unamerican Activities and in order to keep working. Already attached to filming internationally, he wasn't kept down hy filming elsewhere. Anjelica and her brother Tony were raised in Ireland living with their mother a former ballerina who married John at 20 and he was much older. While John stayed married to her until her death, he had affairs and they eventually separated having childr... moreen by different partners. While Anjelica's mother died in a car accident, John adopted his wife's child. The story ranges from her parent's lives to her relationship to Bob, a photographer, with mental illness she was too inexperienced to understand and her modeling career. I grew to appreciate Anjelica Huston and spent time researching her family more. Ive been a fan since her Jack Nicholson days.
review 2: If you want to read name after name of people Angelica Huston spent time with, vacationed with, or slept with, then read this memoir. I couldn't believe how many names the author kept dropping and dropping. Yes, she was rich and privileged, so the glimpse into that life was interesting, and the times she mentions her father and his life are also quite worth reading. But most of the book is a list of names. less
