review 1: Whilst this book isn't overly exciting it certainly makes up for it with quirks, a little bit of humor and a strong main character. There's not a whole lot I can say about this book, only that to put it simply; it was a really nice read. There's nothing really special about it that would make it stand out or cause a massive stir like Harry Potter, it's just a really nice book and I loved every moment of reading it.
review 2: Received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. A strange and offbeat tale, I rather liked it but always felt so cold while I was reading it! The author's vivid descriptions of the environment make Iceland sound so stark, cold and dreary, though at times strangely beautiful. If I ever travel there, it definitely will not be in the
... more winter. The quirky story is followed by directions for making the foods that are mentioned in the book, including "Sour Whale" and "Hooch (for parties)". Hovering between three and four stars. less

Would probably make a sweet and quirky movie, but I hated reading it.
