review 1: A light and silly story that I did kind of enjoy. I found the manga writer friend annoying and just kind of got in the way of the love story of Ryo and Asuka. If he had just been a concerned friend trying to fix them up all the time then I think the story would have flowed a bit better than with him basically writing the story of their love although maybe it develops into something further down the road. Overall though I enjoyed this first volume and will come back to try out more of this story when I just need to switch my brain off. I might even read this whole manga. It's only 18 volumes which seems like a reasonable length for this kind of story.
review 2: Roles are reversed in this unique series where the stereotypes of gender are questioned. Asuka is a bo
... morey who likes girly things, but due to his past and social conventions he finds it difficult to accept this part of himself. He works hard to be a man's man, and is quite well respected by his peers on this front. His hollow existence changes when he meets Ryo though. A girl whom he likes, and who also defies the common gender traits. Characters throughout the series fall into one of two categories, those that face the same situation and struggle with their identity, and those that strictly believe in these segregated roles. While the topic may be serious, the humour, and contrasts in both text and art give a lighthearted tone to the series. Asuka himself is depicted in two ways, he can look really cool in some scenes, but really cute in others. At his age he is easily affected by the opinions of others, so there is ample opportunity to see both. Asuka is so pure-hearted that one can't help but want to cheer him on as he tries to accept himself, and to find true love. less
