review 1: There's a lot to Sam, but no one seems to know much about him since he's so shy. Although he tries to avoid show-and-tell by claiming he's sick or that he left his object at home, his teacher insists that he share. After watching the other students, some of whom stumble over words but all of whom receive applause, Sam decides to take a risk. By doing so, he allowed his classmates to get to know him a little better, and he gained confidence. This is a good title for sharing with others since it approaches shyness from two different perspectives.
review 2: Too Shy for Show and Tell is a fun book that helps young children realize that it is okay to be shy, but there is nothing to be afraid of. This book is about a boy named Sam and how him being shy is getting in
... morethe way of some fun opportunities he has in school. After Sam does show and tell he becomes much more confident in front of his peers. The artistic media used by the illustrator is mainly colored pencil and possibly even some chalk pastels. Some important elements of illustration that are important to this book are the cartoon style of the characters, which is something that is humorous for young children. Another element is that the illustrations tend to go over the gutter, this is something that doesn't give readers that break between pages that is typically experienced. Color is something else that I believe is very important to the success of this book. Most of the colors used are bright and vibrant and really help to draw your attention in. I would use this book as a read aloud to young children around the kindergarten age since it will probably relate to their own lives in some way. I could use this book as an introduction in the classroom if I'm planning on having my own students do show and tell. less
