review 1: An encouraging narrative of how Blake Mycoskie jumped from many different jobs and careers, struggled tremendously in his quest to change the world and eventually launched the TOMS brand, most reputable for its one-for-one model. As a outsider to his industry and someone who was approaching a strange business model, it was interesting to see how Mycoskie's entrepreneurial journey manifested itself. The best part about this book however was that it was not solely focused on Mycoskie or TOMs. It gave inclusive tokens to many different social good organizations, explained to readers how they got their start and also gave the reader resources and exercises to use in order to make the reader feel more involved in the story. It empowered readers to actively think which many biog... moreraphies fail to do. All in all, good book.
review 2: I learned a lot from this book that I wasn't expecting. For example, I had not heard the TOM's story before. I must have been living under a rock, because I thought they were just shoes and a fad. I also learned a little about the Method company's story and how they started in an apartment in San Francisco. Blake Mycoskie offers a lot of advice on how to run a successful that is profitable, but also on how to make a positive impact and give back to society. I definitely enjoyed this read! less
