review 1: The artwork in this book was spectacular, I mean I loved it so much. When I read picture books that is my main focus and when it just strikes me or it is unique I instantly love it. I know that the words in this book are song lyrics and I loved them, they may have been a little deep for children but actually I think children understand more than adults sometimes. The balloon and the paper airplanes were such great symbolism and it was my favorite book of the day by far!
review 2: The 3rd Bob Dylan book interpreted as a children's book is from one of his most famous songs and one of his very first hits. Blowin' in the Wind is, in my opinion, the most beautiful of the four books. The the others (so far), it contains some great commentary by the author about the s
... moreymbolism in the book and the impact of the song. It does contain a CD with the song if you happen to not own it. The illustrations are wonderful watercolors, and what strikes me are the freedom in them. The paper airplane (the symbolic answer blowin' in the wind) has the only straight lines in the entire book. It does contain a reference to death in the final verse ("how many deaths will it take 'til he knows that too many people have died?") and if you're reading to really young children, this could turn you off and make you explain things you don't wish too. It's nothing to shy away from in today's world, though. The lyrics are purposely impactful and hard-hitting. Children are smarter than we give them credit for and will get it. less
