review 1: I loved this book, and the concern for his daughters is evident from the first chapter. Although I can't help but think that this exact thing happens to people on a daily basis, but they are not lucky enough to have the tools to fight and survive like Feiler did. He was able to see the top oncologist in NYC at the drop of a hat. He could fly across the country and visit friends whenever he wanted. He was surrounded with doctors, lawyers, businessmen, that were all his personal friends too. That doesn't make his cancer less tragic, and his subsequent beating it any less great, but I just couldn't help but think of the other cancer patients out there that don't have money for treatments, that aren't able to call on friends at the drop of a hat. So while the book made me happ... morey for him and his sweet children, it also made me mourn for the thousands of other cancer-sufferers that may never get their voices heard.
review 2: Got this book as a gift from a co-worker, and read it on a vacation in New York. The writing is witty, compelling and the emotion behind it is unbelievably deep. This man took a scary situation and made sense out of it, bringing love all around him and creating a movement of sorts in the process. A very original concept and great book. I laughed and cried throughout the book. The ending was especially poignant and uplifting at the same time. less
