review 1: Design As Art is a series of short essays filled with social commentary and criticism related to art and design. I think Munari does a great job challenging the reader to think about ways to improve design (making it more accessible), however at times I got lost by his subjective ramblings. It's important to remember that this is sort of a catalog of Munari's thoughts. If you're looking for a book to learn about design, there are definitely better reads. The quality of insight varies from chapter to chapter. Personally, I learned the most from his writings about the traditional Japanese houses and I like the way he contrasts the Japanese way of life (where virtually every part of their house is well designed and serves a purpose) to the life of Italians (who indulge in su... moreperfluous luxury).
review 2: Scritto ben prima della moda del design che ci flagell� negli anni '80 (come quasi tutto ci� che comparve negli anni '80) � uno spiritoso, brillante e accurato testo divulgativo (opera essa stessa, visto che l'impaginazione e la veste grafica furono di Munari stesso) per distinguere l'artista dal designer (e come sottoprodotto pure dallo stilista). Scritto con positivo approccio da et� del boom, esempio felice di quell'umanesimo calviniano o rodariano, ancora oggi appare utile, ben poco datato e capace di fare previsioni sul futuro. Da uomo dabbene qual'era, Munari si limita all'arte che conosceva, quella figurativa, lasciando espressamente fuori musica e altro dal suo argomento.
