review 1: “Kiss of the White Wolf” by Cassidy Ryan is exactly the kind of book that I have a difficult time writing a review for. To say it’s excellent doesn’t seem to do it justice. The book is simply amazing. The story is a combination of paranormal shape-shifter, crime/mystery and romance at its finest. The twists and turns in the investigation kept me on the edge of my seat and the romance, especially how Hal slowly comes to the realization that he is indeed “mated” to Luke was what really appealed to me.I think my fascination with most were/shape-shifter stories is the premise that wolves mate for life and once they find their mate, they will do anything to protect, care for, love, and give their utter devotion that mate.Cassidy’s writing style closely matches my ... moretrain of thought; the way I talk and interact with people and that is what makes reading this so satisfying. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and you can be sure it won’t be the last.Thank you Cassidy for your incredible talent and for sharing it with me and your other fans.
review 2: There's insta-love; which is common in shifters story. But since the story is written from Hal's perspective (he is not a shifter); it slightly reduces the annoying "You're my mate" thing. I'm still a bit annoyed on how quick Luke changes from a shifter who is hurt and confused one night to recognizing Hal as his mate the next morning (and needs to consummate their love immediately). It doesn't offer anything fresh to the genre -- although I have to admit that I'm NOT expecting one :). I do wonder though, almost throughout about what's the significance of Hal being the journalist that expose the corruption on the police force have anything to do with a shifter story. But then, it turns out that it HAS something to do with the plot, as it is explained near the end. So that's nice. Oh, I do love Milo, the teenager shifter that is rescued by Luke. He's someone I would love to read about next. less
