review 1: Gabriella is a young rich heiress and Max is a guest at her house. She is instantly besotted with him and tries to seduce him which leads to her father finding them in a compromising position. Max has no choice but to marry her. As expected their marriage is a failure. Max hates her for using him and trapping him into marriage and Gabriella decides to leave him and set him free.So, now fast-forward two years later. Gabriella is a popular model but still in love with her brooding husband and this time she is determined to break through his walls. Evil OW (hero's secretary) and hero's stubbornness get in the way though and angst ensues. Great read. Full of tension and angst. I liked the fact they both respected their marriage vows while they were apart and that once Max real... moreized his part in the breakdown of their marriage, he was committed to making amends and showing his wife that he truly loved her. AND I loved that the heroine really forced the hero to admit his mistakes and meet her halfway. Nice grovel there Max ;)
review 2: Read this book a while back and now I'm going to review it...Gabriella was having an affair with Max when she thought she was pregnant, so she told Max without confirming it with a doctor. Max decided they should marry because their families had been good friends. After the marriage Gabriella went to the doctors only to find out she was not pregnant, just having irregular periods. When she told Max this, he had hit the roof and blamed her immensely, saying that she had set out to trap him when he was ready to discard her. Gabriella was heartbroken, she married him because she loved him and the baby she thought she was pregnant with. Over time things became so hurtful between them that Gabriella moved out and began working on her modeling career. Not soon after, Gabriella became a top model, she celebrated life but missed Max. When Gabriella's parents said they were coming for a visit, Gabriella was shocked and contacted Max immediately to set up a scam with him. They would pretend to be married and then they would go their separate ways, eventually divorcing but something had changed as Gabriella and Max spent time together. Max had fallen in love with his wife but after all the pain, would he stand a chance at winning her back?This book was definitely different from the rest, it did stand out and would to a lot of people. However I found I didn't really care for it. I never was pulled into the emotions with the characters as I should of been. Although the writing was beautiful and fluent, I never really felt it, the way I would other novels. Which is a shame because if I could relate more emotionally to the characters and the scenes of this novel, the story would of been a thousand times better. less
