review 1: Unbelievable portrait of an artist. Sometimes these biographies can be very dry, especially for the younger reader. I love the posing of questions by students that create the story. And the artist himself has overcome SO MANY adversities. You learn about how to achieve even when you're not set to achieve along typical lines of fortune. And I learned about conditions worse than dyslexia that I didn't even know existed. I think we should all try to make a portrait from thumbprints!
review 2: I liked the format of this - in a question and answer format, with questions posed by actual fifth graders. I liked the art - particularly the different portraits of himself, using such diverse media. I liked the message - he graduated high school unable to add or subtract,
... moredue to an undiagnosed learning disability, but earned a master of fine arts from Yale. He really pushes himself, and I value that message. less

A book about an unusual artist, his technique and his process. Very interesting, and highly visual.

Not the best book for a book that was Q&A. It could have been better.
