review 1: 3.5/5A decent if short plot, bitter-sweet ending that had me crying (I'm a sap).Characterisation: good though because this was so short a read it missed a beat. More time could have been spent on Robert past, and tough relationship with his father. And simon? He remains slightly too vague even when we do learn his past. Good, but didn't live up to my expectations; especially since this started out strongly.Plot: very good. By avoiding the HEA it enhances the sub-theme of LGBT youth homelessness and eventual parenting regret at being so homophobic. This romance moves too fast but the ending wasn't what i anticipated .Worth a read if you like m/m romance without the typical HEA... but rather a play on that theme.
review 2: More like a 4.5. Holy crap this made me
... more cry...I usually don't cry over books, ever!!! The ending was just so full of emotion and I was feeling it from Simon's perspective, Robert's perspective, his dad's perspective and from his friend Jerry's too. The ending was just so raw and real and painful and loving, all rolled into one. I'm gonna need a stiff drink after this one. This was just a totally different kind of m/m romance...and in this case, different was good and it worked. I will remember this story for a long, long time. Thanks for the rec. R.B.!!! less

It left me bawling in the final pages and sad after even though it had a HEA.
