review 1: While I gleaned some insights from his book, it was exceedingly boring and drawn out. I persevered though and finished it. I appreciate how transparent he was about his experiences throughout the challenge, but I feel like he could have removed half the content in the book and it wouldn't have made a difference to the readers. I will take his advice though and have a look at my closet. :) I would give this 2.5 stars if GoodReads allowed it.
review 2: The first 100 pages were quite boring. It finally picked around the 100 page mark and that's when I became more interested. The concept of the challenge was interesting and one I feel is important for almost everyone. As the author states, maybe the 100 thing challenge isn't for everyone but it can be adapted to
... moreindividuals. These challenges are always an awakening and they provide a chance to reflect on what's really important in life. My only concern is that the author might be slightly obsessed with Patagonia. If never see that brand again in print, I will be happy. On a personal note, I have taken a few of my own challenges of this caliber. The first one was back in 2004 when I found out I was pregnant with twins just a few months after giving birth to my first child. I had an obsession with books and I had to make a hard decision to get down to basics because I wasn't going to have any time to read with 3 babies and we planned to move to another state in order to be close to family. It was a hard decision, and one that I sometimes regret, but it really wasn't too bad. I have since started adding books back into my personal library but I try to keep it small by only filling it with books that are meaningful and ones that I might reference in the future (I typically don't re-read books). If I want to see a large collection of books, I can utilize our wonderful public library system. Another challenge I took was back in 2007 when I had to make a lot of life changes. My husband and I separated and one thing he had complained about was the amount of money I spent on magazines. I did have a slight addiction to magazines, especially the weekly celebrity gossip ones. I probably spent about $25 a week on magazines and then I would spend the whole weekend involved in the lives of these celebrities instead of my own. I never saw it as a problem until it came up during our separation. I stopped cold-turkey and it made a huge difference in my life. For a while, a friend at work (who had the same addiction) would pass along her magazines to me every week, but then it stopped being interesting. I still love magazines but I now enjoy the hand-me-down kind...and I usually save them for long vacations like spring or summer break. On occasion, like when I'm in line at the grocery store, I glance longingly at the latest issue of Glamour Magazine but then I look at the price and I quickly think about something else. I can't believe I once never hesitated at spending $4.99 on a magazine! I have since learned there are better things to spend that $4.99 on. Like, lip balm. :) hahaAnyway, de-cluttering our lives is really important. I highly recommend it. less

Really made me think of all the junk we obtain in our lives that we can do without.

Groan. Ten pages in, and I got annoyed with the author'. Insufferable. Done.

Silence, brothers. This is the worst book I have ever read.
