review 1: What a hot mess. Basically what I got out of the book: "David you should write a book. However, you must be done with it in 30 days. Do you think you could throw enough junk together to make a full book in 30 days? You do? Great, get started on that."I will say there was some humor in it, some, but it was so far and few between the rest of the rants and nonsense that it was simply not worth the time.
review 2: I don't generally enjoy books written by comedians that are largely about themselves, or without a general subject. So often they just come across as arrogant douche bags, for want of a more sophisticated word. There are very few exceptions to this rule, and I often feel they can 'get away' with writing what they want simply because they're otherwise
... morefunny. David Cross definitely toed the line of arrogance, to the point where the book was almost unenjoyable for me. For the most part I found him fairly funny, but a lot of his subject matter was just overkill after his fifth or so time bringing it up just to take another jab at it. Especially in his interactions with others, included in various forms of communication with other comedians and journalists, he comes across completely arrogant, and I get the feeling that if I knew him in real life I wouldn't like him. I wouldn't read another book of Cross's again, unless he was addressing a particular subject I found interesting, but he wasn't a complete waste of a read. less

Smart and hilarious. I listened to this on CD, read by David Cross, which I'd highly recommend.
