review 1: Its good story of four women s hang up in a little coffee house. But throughout the novel ,writer seems to be a biased in not blaming too much America for the sufferings of Afghani's.THe last word to said ,its literary ethics to mention any religious personality with his/her title so one can easily get to know who are you talking about, like on many pages writer mentioned Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.W) unprecedentedly having no sense of it in context.
review 2: *3.5 stars*I have to confess that i went into this book with very high expectations. Having just re read The kite runner my mind was still dwelling in an authentic Afghan setting, with characters buried deep within their own pasts. Seeing this book cover, I realised it had a different aura about it, but still h
... moreoped for an emotional roller coaster. The first chapter was exactly how I had hoped it would be. A young Afghan woman, about to fall prey to the dark society that she lives in. However, although that danger stil exists the perception completely changes with the introduction of the other female protagonists. I don't deny that some chapters were better reads than others, but I do understand that with every chapter, the characters are built upon in their capacity to change and develop as the story progresses.I felt that there could have been more of a sense of drama in some areas, the story seemed to brush over a couple of scenes that could have made it come alive. On the other hand, I enjoyed the mix of characters that were brought together, and actually came to like Isabelle and Candace towards the end where they're passion comes into one force and is interrupted quite sadly **spoiler**. less
