review 1: I really loved this book. it was a fun look at the culture of Janeites though I did get upset about the questionable disdain that seemed to be aimed at younger Janeites who were introduced through the keira knightly p&p even though many of the fans who were interviewed got hooked on the Colin Firth version...idk I felt betrayed that I some how wasn't a true Janeite even though I read the books but saw the 2005 version before the earlier films.
review 2: An interesting ride- I guess the word fan can really be traced to fanatic...I thought of myself as a bit of a Janeite, even having made a couple of the pilgrimages Ms. Yaffe reports on, but found myself completely outdistanced. It was fun to be in " the company of Clever,Well-informed people", though.
