review 1: Dianne Duvall has done it yet again! Phantom Shadows is my favorite Immortal Guardians book so far. Bastien and Melanie's story was fantastic, their relationship started off slow but gained heat and speed once the story got rolling. Bastien is by far my favorite Immortal of the series, his not so squeaky clean past gave him a depth of character that I found very appealing and his love for Melanie only made me love him more. Melanie was just the right woman for Bastien, she didn't let him get away with a lot of bullshit and was constantly calling him out on his feelings. She is smart, funny and able to kick some serious ass in her own right.Of course the story it's self was a continuation of events that took place in previous books and we finally got to see an old enemy put... more to rest. Plus add a few new twists, an unexpected pregnancy, a few new characters, the mysterious Zach (can't wait to learn more about him) and a boat load of non-stop ass kicking and you get Phantom Shadows. Fantastic!!!
review 2: seriously my favourite so far! would give it 6 stars!Bastien, the Immortal who wasn't from the previous two books returns for his tale. Dr Melanie looks after the vampires rescued in the first book. Following the death of Vincent by Bastien (at Vincent's request) Melanie sees Bstien in a different light. Bastien has feelings for Melanie, and when he touches her, he can feel her emotions, its his gift. so he knows how she feels about him, far sooner than she knows what he feels.Bastien has a mouth on him, and uses it regularly, and with great effect, to wind the other Immortals up, and cause all manner of problems. Melanie is equally verbal, but mostly in her defense of Bastien. together they are awesome, simply AWESOME!!!it didn't occur to me, til this book, how strong ALL the women in the leads are, and Melanie I found my favourite, strongest, funniest, and once she gets her claws into Bastien, the most loving. I love that all the previous characters take part, and that the story is being laid for more than the fourth book I know is out. Etienne is up next, but there is something going on with Lisette and Tanner. Richart has his mysterious lady friend, Jenna. David, Seth and Zach (what ARE they, really???) all need someone, so hopefully, we'll get them too.
