review 1: This was definitely one of those books that are okay (and good enough to read at the time) but you would never read them again or anything else by any of these authors. I received this book for free through GoodReads FirstReads program. I'm going to do with this anthology like I do with most anthologies and rate the stories individually in the order they appear in the book:Donna Hill (Risky Business)-I would actually give this story between 2.5 and 3 stars. It was pretty good although totally unbelievable. The main characters sleep together twice and are suddenly in love after about 2 weeks. And the catch is that they don't spend that much time together at all. This story just left me feeling rather lackluster is all.Grace Octavia (Beats of My Heart)-If I could give ... morethis story less than a star on the GoodReads scale then I would. It was just that bad! First of all, the main character has trouble standing up for herself and as a result she blames everyone else for the problems that appear in her life instead of taking it upon herself to fix things. Also, all of the characters in this story had a lot of trouble actually speaking English even though that is their native language. I don't know if the author and editor just had major problems with trying to speak or if they genuinely wanted readers to think that all of the characters were really stupid, because that is what happened! (Side note: This author came up with the most ridiculous and stupid names for the characters like Icey and Kimya. I don't know how the author expects to be taken seriously when using names like this.) As far as the characters actual relationship goes...they only slept together one time since their first meeting that afternoon and then they broke up the next morning. Then, all of a sudden, it is his sister's fault that they don't have a great relationship and that prevents them from being together even though they "love" each other. Another major problem with this story was the fact that none of it made sense. It was really hard to try and follow it and I just couldn't understand anything that was happening because of that fact. One more thing, all of these stories are supposed to be set in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, but this story took place in Brooklynn and then in the Hamptons. They were nowhere near Brazil until they decided to take a vacation there right at the end of the story. Needless to say, I would never ever read anything by this author again!Delaney Diamond (Heartbreak in Rio)-I definitely liked this story the best out of all of them! I would give this one 3 stars. The storyline made sense and the main characters had previously been in a committed relationship with each other so it made perfect sense that they might get back together. I did think that the reason the female lead broke up with the male lead was more than a little ridiculous because he is a separate person than her ex-husband but she treated him as if he was the same person. However, this story was also rather lackluster and I wouldn't read anything by this author again unless I was really bored.
review 2: This book contains three wonderful romantic short stories written by talented authors. The first is Risky Business by Donna Hill. Our heroine is a marketing VP. From the first meeting with Gabriel St. James the electricity between these two is super hot and makes for a wonderful story. The second story is Beats Of My Heart by Grace Octavia. Sunny Embry is an assistant to a very spoiled singer, "Kimya Lee". While seeking a bit of rest at Kimya's week-end house she runs into Kimya's brother, Marlo. The sparks fly between these two even though they know that Kimya would never put up with the two of them together. The third story is Heartbreak in Rio by Delaney Diamond. Sidney Altman is in Rio to meet with a buyer who is interested in her selling him her company's products and hopefully propose a merger of their companies. Right before the first meeting, Rodrigo Serrano walks in. He is the CEO of Moda and an e-lover of Sidney's. The sparks and sexual tension are immediate and run throughout the story. I loved all three stories. They are all well written with very likable characters and fantastic plots. Once I picked this book up it was very hard to put down. I would love to read more by each of these authors!**Good Reads Win less
