review 1: Things I Liked:The author's style was good, better than most! I also liked the Locavore topic. Her description of this way of life was informative and added to the storyline.Things I Disliked:As another reviewer has stated, I also thought the presence of so many illegal immigrants among such a small throng of people was so unlikely that I was unable to suspend disbelief. The solution of the mystery was not handled subtly at all; plus I identified who it was way too early. The author had definite ideas about illegal immigrants and guns, and made sure that the characters in the book who disagreed with her appeared to be less-than-ideal people. I read mysteries to be entertained, not lectured to. I will not be reading more by this author, who feels it necessary to thrust h... moreer politics on the reader.
review 2: I couldn't finish this book though, in all honesty, I could barely start it. The dialogue felt forced: It reminded me of corporate training videos where the actors are talking to convey information, but the dialogue falls short of conversational. The setup was also simplistic and predictable, leaving me to feel like I was reading a school writing assignment rather than a finished and flushed out cozy . I gave the book 3 stars instead of 2 partly because I didn't finish it, and partly because it's a debut. less

Liked how it built intrigue... Among the characters. Great details on the organic farming.

Did not like at all. Too stiff and unbelievable.
