review 1: This book completely broke my heart. This is the story of Esther Grace Earl. A girl who was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at the age of twelve. She was so brave and continually said in the book, of how she was not afraid of death, because 'When the time was right God will look after me'. She was an inspiration. This was also the girl who inspired the story 'The Fault In Our Stars'- John Green met her and became her fiend and when he found out she died was outraged. So he wrote the equally heart retching TFIOS. Hazel has the same middle name and all the same health problems as Esther had. Esther actually died on the 25th of August 2010. But me having just read this book, and it only coming out this year know that her story is one that'll go on, and on for... moreever.
review 2: I LOVED this book! Esther is such an amazing writer/artist/person. This book made me smile, laugh, cry . . . I also learned ALOT about cancer while reading this, but maybe I'm just dumb in the medical field. I loved seeing all the artwork and pictures. When books are just words and nothing else they just seem kinda, plan I guess! If you liked TFIOS [The Fault in our Stars]. I think you would enjoy this book, because Esther Grace Earl is how Hazel Grace was created. Oh and this book will make you cry -probably- if you haven't picked it up then here is what I suggest, pick it up and read it! less
