review 1: This book has good information and brought tears to my eyes more than once. Before you read this book, though, there are some things you should know that you're not going to find out from the cover:1) This book is written by Mark Kelly. It is told from his perspective and at times feels more like an autobiography of his life, despite the title "Gabby" and the fact that Gabrielle Giffords is listed as the author.2) If you are looking for an inspirational tale about a marriage relationship, I don't think you'll find it here. This couple spent only a fraction of their time together, lived in different states, and Kelly went into space for two weeks just months after Giffords was shot.3) This book is inspirational and heartwarming, but not in an overwhelming way (again, for me... more, it was the strange relationship that the couple seemed to have). It has its moments, and you get some inside knowledge about Gabby's recovery and some insight into traumatic brain injury.4) You will not get information about the shooter or his motivations in this book.Overall, I enjoyed the book and recommend it if you are interested in Giffords and her life, and especially if you are interested in Kelly and his life (minus his first marriage, however long that was).
review 2: This is a great story and offers an inside view into the life of an astronaut, and candid observations about NASA, and Congress. My parents retired to Tucson and lived very close to the Safeway where the shooting occurred. I think Gabrielle Giffords would have been their congresswoman if they were still in the area. It is apparent from recent public appearances that Gabby is still dealing with the impact of her injuries. I can only hope that she and Mark will be able to write a sequel in a few years and celebrate her continued recovery, and stricter gun laws. less
