review 1: 3.0 Stars!Started off good...loved the characters but it was a novella, short and it seemed like it wanted to be a full book....it started off feeling like a full book, took it's time developing, and then it kinda hurried up at the end and left me a little confused. It is like looking forward to eating a piece of cake. Then eating it and enjoying it...but suddenly someone grabbed your plate and left you with only a fork. I like what I tasted but wanted more.
review 2: I absolutely love Hildie McQueen's highlander books. This one is no exception. Not only does the cover look sexy but Carrick & Analise melted my heart from the get go. The way that Hildie explains her highlanders is absolutely exquiste. There are no words that I can think of that describes how
... moreflowful her writing is. Here are some favorite things w/beauty & the highlander that made me love the characters.*SPOILER ALERT*"Miss Macgregor. His deep voice resonated through her and he lowered his head, barely a bow. I am Carrick Gordon. Your betrothed." The way he addressed Analise made me want to be his wife. I just imagined a gorgeous man w/a deep baritone voice. Made me weak in the knees for Carrick."He'd describe her as fetching with long wavy hair the color of fall leaves and light eyes that reminded him of a misty sky." When Carrick describe how he first pictured Analise I thought wow, I'm looking at a portrait in a art gallery. The description took my breath away. Most men don't describe women this way. It was such a nice vision. The first time that they made love I felt as though this was so thoughtful. "I will try not to hurt you." It showed his compassion for his wife when more than likely he really wanted to ravage her. It made it feel like the first time all over again for me. Being patient & caring to not damage his woman."i wish for your heart. I wish for your love." That had me tearing up. After everything that took place w/in the book this made the journey so worth getting there. I loved how she wanted Carrick to give her what they both truly wanted from the start."Truly, I already loved you, Analise. I love you for seeing past my scars. And for standing by me and accepting all that I am without ever giving up on me."All that is left to say is read the book. You won't be disappointed & it is a novella. less

Really good but short. That is why I gave it only 4 stars. I will be reading more from this author.
