review 1: I read the book hope solo. This book was very entertaining and factual. This book is about hope solo (a professional soccer player) who's life starts out with a rough start but gets better as time goes on. Hope had a tough childhood but soccer made her forget about all the bad things in life and helped her focus on the good things in life. Hope taught me that giving up isn't an option in soccer. I had a lot in common with hope solo because there were some bad things taut happened in my life but soccer let me relax and be myself. I'm not afraid to show who I am bit I was. Hope solo is now a professional soccer Player on the US women's team. She had a scholarship to North Carolina by the time she was a junior. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to both ... moregenders. Hope taught me to never give up on what I want even when times get hard. This book was one of the best books I've read in a long time.
review 2: Interesting story about the life of one of the soccer icons; I expected a bit more about the training and how kids have to make sacrifices to pursue their dream. However, this is a good story about making it when not born with a golden spoon. In addition, the unconditional love for her father is a great credit to Hope, who could easily have chosen a different route. Unfortunately, the story stops at the initial rounds of the Olympics and not at achieving gold medal. I guess publishing the book just after the Olympics was more important that having a natural ending to the book. Oh well, Guess we have to wait until the second edition to get the full story.Teachers and librarians; this might be a book to get the sporty kids interested in reading. less
