review 1: A simple and yet fun short story about a girl who rescued a pig from the horrible guy that she went on a date with. In fact, her date was so bad, she considered him a thug really, but she still went on this date with him for her family's sake. As it turned out, the little piggy was a dude from a very powerful family of mages and it was the thug who trapped him and turned him into an animal, with full intention on killing him. So basically, girl rescued piggy, piggy transformed into a handsome young man, a potential romantic relationship budded. It was an interesting story, with simple yet memorable characters and just enough adventure to make it worthwhile.
review 2: In a world where magic is real, families are always aware of their position in society. So w... morehen Alena is asked out by the local thug, Chad, she has to think of how it would affect her family. Expecting a bad date, Alena reluctantly accepts. The problem is that what she expected wasn't nearly as bad as the actual date.This isn't part of any series that I can find which is a little unusual for Ilona Andrews. It is also written in a lighter vein than their series. Even though it is just a short story, I still felt like I got a good sense for this new world and its inhabitants. I wouldn't mind reading more stories set in this world.So, a new world with an interesting magic system with interesting characters wrapped up in a fun,fast read. I would call it a hit. One note is that the story is only available as an e-story. less
