review 1: My Love at Last was such a sweet, sexy and easy read. It is one of those books that take you back to your earlier loves and wonder what happened to them and how/why did we drift apart. TJ and Danielle were childhood best friends but when that ever-so-great time known as high school comes around, they drift apart.A chance encounter years later sparks an immediate attraction and love follows. My Love at Last will give the happily ever after for all the hopeless romantics out there. And, while the story is quite predictable, it was a beautiful love story.DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of My Love At Last in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: My rating 3.5 STARS.This was fairly quick read and a good debut novel by Jaclyn Marulanda. The story starts
... more out with Danielle 'Danni' Bryan recapping her life from a young child to high school and college. She describes how she use to be best friends with her next door neighbour Timmy and how they spent every second together. As they get older and are in high school, they drift apart with Danni becoming more popular and Timmy being the geeky science, metal robot making kid who constantly gets bullied by his peers including Danni's jock boyfriend.Circumstances arise where Timmy leaves town and Danni moves onto graduate high school than college and return home to get a job. What she doesn't expect is to run into Timmy again..... Only Timmy is now known as TJ and he is gorgeous, successful and a little more confident than he was as a geeky teenager. From a nervous and slightly awkward start we watch their friendship quickly grow into a relationship with feelings that Danni didn't expect and that TJ has been longing for since he was very young. The story line was quite good and I enjoyed it but I did find it a little difficult to make a connection with these characters. Danielle sometimes seemed quite childish and TJ seemed a little weak and desperate at times. I understand that he had been in love with Danielle for a long time but they both seemed to revert to their teenage selves which was a little distracting. I also found that certain words were used quite repetitively in scenes which in my opinion interrupted the natural flow of the story; specifically the words perfect and beautiful. I honestly believe that Jaclyn Marulanda shows great potential as an author and through more experience will achieve much success. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. less
