review 1: Wells' book is full of entertaining anecdotes of his experiences as a veterinarian in a small, rural mountain town in CO. Any animal lover will appreciate not only his dedication to the treatment of animals (from cats and dogs to llamas and burros), but also his ever present humor in dealing with both his patients (the animals) and their owners. A truly entertaining, light read that's a perfect before-bed-book!
review 2: Wonderful book. If you are considering a career as a vet you need to read this book. Dr. Wells recounts some funny and thoughtful stories not only about animal nature but human nature and human nurture as well. The stories are not repetitive or familiar and focus on a variety of animals. I fully engaged with this book, something I was never abl... moree to do that with the James Herriott vet stories from the UK that were all the rage back in the 1970's and 1980's. less
