review 1: This was a light, fun read. Brown's illustrations are great, and in general it's a pretty funny book.I read this in one sitting, and the only thing I didn't like is that you feel like he's just talking about his son, not kids in general. It's sort of like a very funny, cool friend telling you interesting stories about their kid for an hour (or more). Not that it's not funny, but after a while you aren't that interested. So I'd suggest breaking up the book a bit when reading it. This would make a great calendar or date book - taken in small doses they're hysterical.
review 2: This was a really fun read. Very quick and short but very enjoyable. I really had fun reading this book because it really adds fun to how little boys think. They will say the weirdest, f
... moreunniest, dumbest, smarted, and naughtiest things around and then forget all about it a minute later. Boys really need the right kind of parents in order to fully appreciate them and let them test their boundaries without getting in trouble. It was so cute reading some of the little boy's thoughts about his parents, his toys, his friends, and what happens after people die, who will be his new parents. A child's curious way of thinking and speaking those thoughts can only be described as something honest and pure but very funny. A child has no influence of school or society on them yet to be affected by what they think and say. It's cute when a child says they have a crush on their teacher or that their best friend is fun to hangout with only when they are being fun, not when they are crying because it hurts their ears.Any parent raising a boy will appreciate the little remarks from this book because they might recognize moments from their own child about similar situations. It's very true to a boy to think that sleeping is boring because all they get to do is just lie there, boys' want to be always doing something because their minds are looking for things to engage them with. How many parents can tell stories of their little boy coming in at various times throughout the night to wake them up because they were bored. This book is written in a subtle way to show the complex nature that little boys carry with them. This is why for a boy to truly grow they need the right parents who will encourage that growth, not stunt it by punishing them for saying or thinking something strange or weird. A young curious mind should be met with another curious mind, not a strict parent who demands obedient behavior all the time, that his how creativity is taken out of a young mind.So whether you are looking for a reminder of how children think, or looking for something to read on your break, this is a fun book to catch and read. It might remind you of when you were growing up or your own son right now, either way, it will be a smile and laugh to you. less
