review 1: Good Debut book for Jennifer....3.5 STARS. I really enjoyed this story, especially, Abbi's sharp & whitty tongue as it made for some good laugh out loud moments. I really liked Ryan...there is something about a man in uniform (active or retired) that stirs my soul. He was the perfect mix of protective and fun loving. They were good for each other and good to each other. There were definitely some tense moments followed by some aww moments. There was plenty of drama and even a little suspense to keep you turning the pages. I would like to have had a little more of Ryan's story as I think it would have provided more of an emotional connection with him. While there was chemistry between Ryan & Abbi, I did not feel the non-physical connection between them. There were tim... morees when I felt too much detail went into insignificant parts of the story while other times there could have been more. I think Jennifer did good with her debut book and I am looking forward to continuing Jace & Judy's story in Cherish Me.I was provided this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Small town girl Abbi moves from Georgia to LA to start her life. She gets a job as a bartender in a nightclub where she meets Ryan, rich owner of a Personal Protection Agency (aka bodyguard). They have an instant attraction and Ryan keeps "accidentally" running into Abbi, but never asks her out. After Ryan saves her from a horrible situation, he decides he will never leave her again.Overall I really enjoyed this book. I liked Abbi and how she grew from scared small town girl to a strong woman who didn't put up with anyones crap. Ryan was great, protective but not crazily so. He had some demons from his past in the Army. I wish the author would have talked a little more about this. It was mentioned a few times but not really addressed as much as I thought it should have been. There was lots of action, but it was not too over the top. The supporting characters, especially Judy, Ashley, Jace and Gabe were great. I felt like there were a few loose ends left in the story.......but it is the first in a series and I hope they will be addressed in future books, which I will be excited to read!!4 Stars less
