review 1: Bitter Sweet Love is a prequel novella in the Dark Elements series. While it's not an essential read I think this story is set up as a way of explaining a lot of Warden-type traditions and rules within their mating and romance areas before the main show begins. You really get a sense of the rules that govern Zayne, and to a lesser extent, Layla as well.This novella centers around Jasmine and Dez that formed an unbreakable bond when they were children. At least, that's how it felt until Dez suddenly left, right after her father announced that they were to be mated. Now he's back, and he has claimed her as his future mate. Now he will have to convince Jas that his intentions are true. Is he telling the truth or will he run away again?Not ready to bow down to pressure from he... morer family, Jas compiles a list of things he has to do with her. A bucket list of sorts that she's never been able to experience as a sheltered Warden female. To her surprise, Dez obliges.Bitter Sweet Love is just that. A tale of two persons who have always cared deeply for each other, yet are haunted by past actions. Jas and Dez were cute together, but a part of me was too irritated by the (eventual) forgiving female stereotype to really think this was a great read. Bitter Sweet Love is ok, but both Jas and Dez lacked the humorous aspect and chemistry I loved in Layla's story.2.75 stars

Der Roman ist so erzählt, das man auch ohne Vorwissen sehr gut den Einstieg findet und problemlos den Details folgen kann.Liest man diese Geschichte allerdings nach "Steinerne Schwingen" so ist dieser Einblick ebenfalls überaus interessant und verschafft dem Leser das Verständnis einiger Anspielungen aus Band eins."Bittersüße Tränen" liest sich spannend, auch wenn der Fokus auf der Romanze zwischen den beiden Hauptprotagonisten liegt. Doch auch hier treten spannende Sequenzen auf den Plan, die das Tempo auf ein angenehmes herantragen und den Leser so viel zu schnell durch die knapp 120 Seiten jagen lassen.Jennifer L. Armentrout vereint in ihrem Schreibstil wieder einmal genau das, was ein Roman braucht, um den Leser zu fesseln und ihm eine tolle Lesezeit zu bescheren.Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf mehr aus der Welt der Gargoyles und Dämonen.Fazit: Das Prequel zur "Dark Elements"-Reihe sollte man sich keineswegs entgehen lassen. Auch auf nur knapp 120 Seiten erhält der Leser eine spannende und gefühlvolle Geschichte, in die man so richtig herrlich abtauchen kann. less

3,5 estrellas. Me cuesta puntuar este libro porque aunque se me ha hecho entretenido y la autora (como siempre) consigue que sus personajes tengan muchisima quimica y que disfrutes con su relacion pero pese a esto he tenido problemas con lo de que las guardianas esten recluidas en casa y para lo unico que sirven es para tener hijos y asi continuar con la especie, lo siento pero yo no lo veo bien y no puedo estar de acuerdo con un libro que hasta cierto punto muestra que esto puede estar bien. Por suerte la prota de la trilogia parece estar mas en contra de esto, no como Jasmine que mucho hablar al principio pero le dura tres capitulos y luego es todo amor y no hay problema con lo de emparejarse ni nada. Ademas que lo de las cosas que hacer como visitar new york o ir al centro comercial me parece una chorrada, ¿hace eso una vez en su vida y es medio libre durante estos 7 dias y luego a procrear y a pasarse todo el dia encerrada en casa?Por suerte la trilogia esta resultando mucho mas interesante y la prota me cae mucho mejor porque si bien los protas tienen quimica para mi los valores que muestra este libro no son correctos lo que hace que no pueda disfrutar tanto del libro.

Ok, I'm not sure why, but I had NO idea this book was a paranormal. Which is in no way a bad thing since I love paranormal books. But it's like when you take a drink of something, thinking its something off. Throws you off for a few seconds. I guess I had just never read the premise of the series.But I really enjoyed this short little novella. Gargoyle Wardens are something new! (at least to me!) I liked getting a little taste of this world that I'll be diving into for the new two books. Yup! I have White Hot Kiss up next and then Stone Cold Touch right after. I can't wait!
