review 1: This is part of the Goddess Girl series by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams that I absolutely LOVE! I've kept up with the regular series, but this "super special" publication is not part of their regular series, but a side story. The story focuses on the fact that the girls of MOA really wanted to have a Girl's Only-Olympics since they were shut out of the regular Olympics that MOA hosted in one of the other novels in the series. However, the girls of MOA have to learn lessons in order to make the girl-games work, and keep their friendship intact. Artemis has to learn to ask for help instead of shouldering all the duties of preparing the games herself. Persephone and Aphrodite learn to share the precious kitten that Aphrodite finds one day in the marketplace (not directly r... moreelated to the games, but still a big part of the lessons in this story). They also learn lessons on opening up to other cultures as Goddesses from around the world come to complete in the Girl-Games. I absolutely loved this book. It wasn't overly cheesy (I figure a decent amount of cheesiness is allowed seeing as it is a children's book) and I don't feel like any of the issues were dragged on longer than they should have been. If you have enjoyed the Goddess Girl series this is definitely a side story that you should read!
review 2: I won a copy of this book through goodreads for my 6-year old niece. It's a little advanced for her (I should have looked at the description when I entered) but she is really enjoying it so far. She's on chapter 5 and she told me it's about the Olympics and she likes all of the goddesses.update: My niece told me she had finished the book and enjoyed the story and all of the goddess girls. less
