The Love List
review 1: There are a lot of problems with this novella. The author seems to sprint through days and cram a lot of haphazard events into a 97 page story- double spaced. Most good novellas (like from Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews) capture just a few hours or a couple of days at most. If the author had kept her writing to those constraints she would have been able to focus more on the characters and what they were feeling/thinking. Throughout the story I didn't have any real reason to like Travis other than the fact that he was the obvious love interest. She had moments of good dialogue between characters (I especially like the scenes in Que Syrah Syrah), but too often relies on cliché sayings and ruins the moment for me. Last thing, there are a few grammatical errors. A... morell in all, Joanne Jaytanie would benefit from some good Beta readers and/or a free-lance editor.
review 2: A super sweet read in this 4 part series. I was given these books in exchange for an honest review. I've been reading them out of order and it doesn't really matter. The premise is 4 single women become friends and decide to look for love.Normally this kind of story is a little tame for me. There's no super action, crazy sex, or magic anywhere in site. I found myself drawn into this world regardless, because everything is so authentic. These books are refreshing and fun. They're real. The characters are real, the town is great, I would move there if I could. The protagonist of this book, Laura, really makes the story come to life. She's a strong, sweet, and independent woman who is following her dream of opening a bed and breakfast in this lovely town. She's had a bit of a dating dry spell and the few she has gone on were less than ideal. Of course she finds her love in the end. It was great watching the relationship develop. You just know they will live happily ever after! If you are looking for a bite sized love story, or a great series in all four books, these are definitely worth the read! less
