review 1: Mildly fascinating, but overall, disappointing. I was hoping to learn something from this book, but for the most part, I felt it was very "scratch the surface." Although there were a few interesting parts, they often went into the most minute and inconsequential details... then you had to read the same story from the voice of one to three more people. I've watched the Dargers on TV and the seem quite organized and "with it," so perhaps my expectations were a bit too high. If you don't have anything better to read, it might be worth checking it out at the library. But if you pay for it, like I did, I think you'll be disappointed.

... moree almost palatable. Joe Darger seems a nice enough guy, but I would not wish this life on myself or any woman I know. Of course the Dargers judge themselves as happy and satisfied with their marriage, and I guess that's what matters here. Of course, being raised in this lifestyle, their perspective is limited.Overall, it's a fascinating read less

Such an interesting book on a present day polygamous family, who do not feel abused, etc.
