review 1: This was a really nice book about taking a cycling tour of Canada as a family. Unlike many other cycle touring chronicles, it didn't focus on day-by-day descriptions of the bike riding. Rather, it was about amusing events that occurred along the way and memories that the cycling tour evoked. For whatever reason, that style really worked well for the book. An innovation in this book was that the author's wife wrote footnotes. That was actually really enjoyable, as it made her presence in the story more active.Like I said above, I really liked this book.

... moreead about a family biking across Canada for months! I kept marveling at the idea of riding a tandem bike, pulling a trailer bike and a trailer. Then I marveled at the idea of somebody who had never done any serious biking before, the wife, biking across the country - though she must have gotten the better end of the deal being on her own bike! I suppose it wasn't written as a guide book, but I still wish there were more detail b/c I kept wondering where all of their gear was packed(food, tents, sleeping bags, etc.) and how they were going to bike until the snow stopped them when they had jobs and school waiting for them. less
