review 1: Where There's A Will is the second book in the Good Girl series by author Karen Kelley. What girl hasn't wished for the perfect man? When Haley wishes for a man, she gets a half angel with sexiness in spades. Ryder is determined to act out Haley's fantasies and show her how beautiful she is. I have to say that this book caught me by surprise. I didn't think it was going to be so great because everyone kept saying that Haley considers herself fat, ugly and unappealing. Women deal with this every day in real life, but I wasn't sure I wanted to read about it. Granted, I am tired of the perfect size 0 women in romance, but why did she have to feel that average was a bad thing to start with? Ryder was some hubba-hubba with some ooh-la-la thrown in. He was every bit as ... moresexy as the cover model on the front of this book. The writing was good and I really didn't have any more problems with this book. It wasn't blow me away great, but it was definitely one to keep you warm on a cold night of reading. Even though this is part of series, I considered it to be okay as a stand alone read as well. This is one series that I will continue reading and enjoying.
review 2: I received this as an E-Galley from publisher via NetGalley. No remuneration was exchanged and all opinions, unless otherwise stated, are my own. What we have here is a fantasy land of Angels and Mortals. Ryder a nephilim, who “hears” Haley’s prayer to be given a man. Basically she thinks she is a total loser, fat, unattractive, insert any bad self-image here. Ryder comes to fill her prayer and show her that she isn’t that at all and instead a beautiful and attractive woman. This is where things go a little haywire for me, an angel who comes to earth to fulfil a woman’s sexual desire? Definitely an interesting take on the whole angels fulfilling desires of mortals. More like he’s fulfilling his own desires. That aside, this book has some fabulous dialogue and the sex scenes are out of any good girl’s day dreams (NOT). Haley is supposedly repressed because of her strict moral upbringing yet she writes in a journal all sorts of extreme sex acts, I just didn’t buy that part. I’m pretty sure someone raised like her who won’t even curse sure as heck wouldn’t put that kind of thing down in print where anyone could come across it. Especially since her sister seems to just walk into her house. But her fantasies are great from what we get to see of them and I think the author did a great job with the writing side of things. Add this to your shelf when you’re in the mood for something steamy. You definitely won’t go wrong in doing so. But if you want a strongly developed romance along with it, this might not be the one for you. less
