review 1: This is a beautiful story of love and honor to those who served. I'm deeply touched by this book. Wyatt and Graham found each other after Graham's brother died in combat as a Hero. Graham new mission to find Jake, their beloved pet ... A dog that was theirs and faithful companion. While reading this story many times I had to stop ... Crying ... Because you never want to feel the loss of someone you love. Graham and Wyatt relationship was also beautifully written. I will like to see more books with them and have Vicent story told. Excellent job !
review 2: 3.5 starsThis book started out so strong. The letter Graham receives from his brother was heartbreaking, yet heartwarming to know that you get to hear from your loved one, once more after their death. This is
... moresomething you can hold onto and treasure the rest of your life. After reading the 1st scene I was prepared to read a really emotional journey, but the execution fell flat in paces. 1st things first. I know WAY too much about, and too many pages were donated to Jakes blood line. I didn't need to know that, and found myself skimming over these sections. I have also never been so privy to a dogs bodily fluids before. I lost count of the times they talked about Jake taking a pee. O_OThere wasn't a natural flow to the characters. They were too stiff, especially Graham. For example the restaurant scene: Mack and Everett refer to Graham and Wyatt as fella's,(very informal, friendly) yet Graham still continues to refer to them as sir(too formal and stiff). I understand that Graham is military, but I wanted to see his character relaxed and more natural. I wanted to watch Graham and Wyatt fall in love, and I found there wasn't enough interaction between the MC's before they said I Love you. I felt cheated that I didn't get to see how they spent their 1st month together. I wanted more interaction between the characters. Go on dates, spend time hanging out. I felt even by the 50% mark, I didn't know these characters especially as a couple. It took until almost the end of the book for me to finally feel a connection with Graham and Wyatt. This wasn't a badly written book, I have read the reviews and I know most will probably disagree with me, but I felt way too much attention was put on Jake. He took away time where I should have gotten to know Wyatt and Graham. less
