review 1: It was a little slow in the beginning. But it gripped when the author started talking about the months and days before the internment camp and then the years that were spent in the camp. Poston Camp was where my family was sent. I was thankful for her account of the years spent there. My mother still to this day will not speak of her time there. My dad, like Kiyo's brother joined the army and was part of the 442nd and was sent to France and Italy.
review 2: A memoir of Kiyo Sato's life before and after interment. I have always been ashamed of this part of our history and this story put me in the shoes of many of our friends who family history includes this experience. Their parents and grandparents came to this country for the American dream to have it bec... moreome a nightmare but handled it with courage and dignity.
