review 1: September selection for the Palladium book club. Autobiography of Lang Lang, classical pianist. He is from China and the book emphasizes his early life in China, his domineering father who is determined that he will be number 1 piano player in the country - and in China, that is beating out a lot of people.Gives some insight into fairly modern China, and living with the parents of talented children. There are probably other talented children in many areas, but without someone to push them to the front, do they every surface?We will be ushering for his show in Carmel in a few weeks, after the book club meeting, so I think I will enjoy listening to him play after reading his book.I could have used a little more time on his teen years, but the majority of the book was up t... moreo age 12 and then quickly to his 20's. It didn't seem like he spent much time in school, although it was talked about. And it didn't sound like he went to any college, but I guess the musical training is the equivalent of college.
review 2: The autobiography of Lang Lang, one of the world's greatest classical concert pianists. It chronicles his life from his birth in 1982 in China up to nearly present day. He lived in Shenyang and then Beijing where he attended the Beijing Conservatory. Then he got a scholarship to the Curtis School of music in Philadelphia. He had a father who was constantly forcing him to practice and never lit him quit. less
