review 1: Easy to read and very well written. Mrs. Bush has been and continues to be an excellent role model. This book is truly "Spoken from the Heart". She also followed her heart, through her teaching and her beliefs. She and her husband appear to always be thinking about others, not about what they think, but about what they personally are able to do to help and improve the lives and future of others. Thoroughly enjoyed.
review 2: When our book club chose this as one of our monthly reads last summer I can't deny my disappointment. I think that fact, along with Laura Bush being a stellar human being, made this book all the sweeter for me. I truly enjoyed her stories of growing up in West Texas along with her experiences of being the First Lady during the unpopular... more presidency of her husband George W. Bush. She's a wonderful storyteller, an insightful person, and well, I fell in love and admiration for both her courage and her compassion for others. So thanks Tommy Gay for recommending it...I was pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed it so much. less
