review 1: eh. mixed emotions..this book was pretty much boring the whole way through, with SOME interesting parts, but honestly i found myself reading it just because i'd already started and its pointless to have a half read book on my shelf, ya know? i kept waiting for it to get interesting but.....it never really did. it wasn't lifeless or completely dull, but the way it was written or maybe the high expectations Keeping Up With the Kardash's has given us, made it seem just..not..so...exciting. until the end. then it kinda just fades off of the four girls and shifts to madison. and then that plot twist happens, and theres 12 pages to even figure it out. the last sentence sort of made it all worth it, though. i liked it. i didn't LOVE how it ended or really the book as a whole, but... more i did like the way the last sentence was written and the message it gave. yeah. but maybe im being harsh.. it wasnt TERRIBLE. in fact, if youre bored and have gone through all the books on your bookshelf and happen to see this book at a local big lots or something for 3 dollars (like me (; haha) then yeah, totally get it! its not a page turner but it does beat cleaning your room or something! PS... LC should seriously stick to reality tv.
review 2: If asked to describe this book in three words, I would know exactly what three words to choose, DRAMA, DRAMA,DRAMA. From beginning to end Author, Lauren Conrad used just the correct amount of suspense to keep your nails bitten and your pages turning. Taking place in the heart of Los Angeles, California, Hollywood, the story calls for a fast paced and exciting journey from the start. The tale is centered around four girls, Madison, Carmen, Katy, and Gaby. These four girls are simply your average aspiring everything trying to make it in Hollywood, but what makes these girls' lives far more than average is the chance to be on reality tv show, The Fame Game. Lauren Conrad offers a fresh and honest point of view on the aspect of reality tv, being that she was once on the hit reality tv show, The Hills. The book does a swell job of incorporating all struts of life, from the aspiring actress "Celebuspawn" Carmen Curtis, and the professional frenemy, Madsion Curtis, to the not smarter than a fifth grader, Gaby who may or may not be anorexic all the way to aspiring musician,Katy from good ol' Ohio. The story takes us through their journey of being filmed throughout their everyday lives. It elaborates on the behind the scenes dirt that takes place and the orchestrating that director of the Fame Game, Trevor Lord does to keep the show juicy. I think that Conrad transitions smoothly between characters and point of view all the up to the Big Bang at the end (there always is one, but I won't tell it). Conrad offers an accurate portrayal and tone of voice for each individual character. Conrad was able to speak as a condescending and sneaky tone of Madison, the ditzy and confused tone of Gaby, the new in town tone of Katy, to the kind and exciting tone of Carmen. However, I feel as though Conrad was lacking in the description at certain parts of the story. Conrad did not always accurately give the sense of the pulsating heartbeat that is Hollywood. That is why I deducted the last star from the rating, but I do believe that Conrad demonstrated fairly well the game that fame can be. less
