review 1: i have to be choosy now about which books I buy b/c my book collection is getting out of hand. but i think i will buy this one. carre's book is such a beautiful thing, the wonderful art and storytelling notwithstanding. i ran across some of her comics at the comic art museum and sf and was like, who is this? i love love this book. especially one of her short pieces that juxtaposes a life of adventure versus one that is more retiring. can i find a print of that one?
review 2: What an absolute treat! I randomly picked this up at TCAF this year and Lilli sweetly signed it, but I finally got around to reading it and I read it within hours. Lilli's art is gorgeous, with a specific shapely style to her characters, whether they appear more conventional people or... more mysterious creatures. I loved that this was a book of graphic short stories and moments, and I found her writing equally pleasing - a great mixture of mystery, sad ambivalence and curiosity. Her characters are solid, and her art perfectly depicts them. I'm going to check out more of her work as soon as I can! less
