review 1: I thought this book was a wonderful easy read to forget about your own problems. Linda Lou has an awesome look on life and never seems to take things too seriously. She has obviously has had a lot of trials in her life, but although at some points it seems as though she has given up she pursues and rolls with the deck she's given. This book made me appreciate my life in a whole new way, realizing that it could always be worse and to cherish the good you have. Plus the writing was done well, which today seems hard to come by!
review 2: I found this book and this author through a mutual friend's blog I was reading regularly. She calls herself "Linda Lou Vegas" and she's now a stand-up comedian along the Vegas strip. I began reading her blog and I thought she see... moremed very funny so I bought a copy of this book. I really enjoyed it. I was seriously laughing out loud in many of the chapters. And I was shaking my head in other ones. It's one woman's memoir about learning to value herself and reinvent her life through a bad relationship that she is in. Linda constantly pokes fun at herself - her bad hair, her obsession with Guiding Light and wondering why she's living with an alcoholic who has a gambling problem. I love her fearless honesty and how she somehow makes lemonade out of the lemons she's been dealt with in life. I would recommend this book to anyone and I have an autographed copy if any of my friends want to borrow it. You'd have to send it back to me though since she personalized it to me! :-) less
