review 1: Linda Ronstadt was always about the music. Anyone who listened to any of her songs knew the woman had a rich beautiful voice and she could sing it all! Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir by Linda Ronstadt is the story of her musical adventures. It is not a detailed biography of her personal life, but it is a moving telling of the music in her life. I felt as though I were sitting on the sofa in her living room as I read this book, because she writes as though she is having a conversation with the reader. This is a delightful journey of the music. Country music, rock, jazz, big band-- she tells it all. A beautiful piece of musical history by a beautiful lady.
review 2: If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Who doesn't love Linda Ronstadt?! She was the sweethear
... moret of the 1970's. This book provides a lot of backstory and explains some of her thinking around her decisions later in her career. But I was disappointed that she tended to gloss over some of the details I would like to see. For example, there is one passage where she literally said "and then I had three hit albums". Or, "and that was after I decided to stop singing forever." But it was still great to relive her successes - I miss her performances and her singing. She wasn't the diva that I had expected her to be at all. less

Pretty interesting. Emphasis on music versus personal which was OK.
