review 1: This is part of The Blue Dynasty series by Lisa Marie Perry. Danica Blue is the GM of the Slayers football team; Dex Harper is the quarterback that she recently fired. All Dex wants to do is play football. Danica decides to use her PR savvy to help him get picked up by another team. During the time they spend together Danica realizes he is more thank "football" player and his stats. Dex realizes that he wants more than football, he is willing to take risks to claim Danica.
review 2: Midnight Play is the second installment in Lisa Marie Perry’s The Blue Dynasty series and was an enjoyable read. In this segment Danica Blue is the next Blue daughter to capture Cupid’s bow. Danica is the GM for the family’s football franchise and recently fired head quarte... morerback bad boy Dex Harper. Dex is not happy with the ruling and requests a meeting with elder Blues to try to obtain his job. After the disastrous meeting, Danica decides to help Dex clean his image. These two realize the attraction between them and try to ignore it but constant contact and conversations filled with sexual tension make for an explosive, shall we say, “meeting of the minds” which of courses leads to a relationship both feel will not last. Will Danica succeed in unmasking the real Dex Harper without losing her heart, job or betraying her family’s trust? Readers will need to pick up Midnight Play to find out.I must say the second installment was more engaging than the first book in this series. Ms. Perry did a good job developing the characters, where readers are able to see Danica’s struggles to please everyone and well as how alone she feels. She has to deal with an ex-husband while trying to fight her attraction for Dex. She wears different personas and starts to realize that she is cutting herself off from her sisters and love of a lifetime just to please her parents. Dex is an enigma all by himself. He portrays himself as a “badass” when in actually he is struggling to deal with not feeling as if he resolved his issues with his parents before there death. He is a faithful sibling and believes if he can keep his sister from Las Vegas life she will be better off. To top that he is extremely attracted to Danica but is leery of opening his heart. The pace of the story flowed and stayed in line with the theme of this series. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this installment and am looking forward to the last Blue daughter’s journey to love.
