review 1: I got the first book for free, and I should have known that with a Lisa Wingate, the next logical thing would be to buy all the books in the series. That's exactly what happened. This second book is a continuation of what happened after Amber Anderson won second place in American Megastar. The focus this time is on Lauren Eldridge, who came back to Daily two years after a tragedy had her leaving town. As in the first book, the story is told from the points of view of Lauren, and a visitor to Daily, Nate Heath.Again, this did not disappoint. There was just enough drama, wholesome romance, family, community, gospel. A very easy and light read, filled with a balance of comic, inspiration, and a bundle of life lessons.
review 2: This was very similar to the first
... morebook for me. The characters were wonderful, I loved the two main characters. I loved the back and forth narration. It was done well. I liked how there was a slight tie in to the first book, like Justin and Amber and they mention the last book's main characters. I loved the love story. The main problem was, like the first book, it was extremely slow. It took me forever to read because I never wanted to read it. It was so so slow, and then at the end you have a slight pick up in suspense for the last like two chapters. In the end, I loved the story and characters and everything but the slowness is not a good point. Another thing I noticed was that Nate, being from California I believe, sometimes in the book said or thought weird similes/metaphors that were completely Texas. It didn't make sense because the country background was more present in both of the narrations instead of just the girl who was from Texas. That was slightly annoying, but not that big of a deal. If you are not bothered by slow books I would recommend it, but if you want something that is suspenseful or keeps you on your toes, this is not it. less
