review 1: Never Give In To Fear: Laughing All the Way Up from Rock Bottom (Kindle Edition) I enjoyed this book far more than I'd expected to. It became a page-turner for me, and I could not get enough of its bizarre scenarios that just kept coming. Been in a few odd situations myself in my life, so I could relate, but Marti's just take the cake and more! Wow. From drug addiction to being sold into slavery, being a stand up comic, domestic violence, homelessness, there is all kinds of wild stuff going on in her life. But she never gives up completely on herself.
review 2: Based on the reviews and ratings, I had high hopes for a very insightful and well written memoir. It was neither insightful nor well written, nor was it worth the high ratings and I was extremely disappo... moreinted. The fact that the author lived this way as a drug addict for several years and was strong enough to turn her life around and get clean is terrific. But there are much better books available about living with and overcoming addiction. Don't waste your time with this one. less
