review 1: Megan Hand's writing is truly something special. Her story-telling is deep, well-thought, beautifully written, and characters are well-developed. The concept of this book is something so unique, making it completely one-of-a-kind. Megan Hand has the ability to take words and construct them into something very special. It's not just a book, it's a compilation of beautiful pieces of wisdom, truths, and personal growth. THAT alone makes this book worth the read - add an amazing story on top of that, and you've got a bright jewel amongst a world of other books. Don't let this special book pass you without picking it up and giving it a read!
review 2: Review of Bitter Angel by Megan HandThis book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.I hate to ... moreeven label this book with a star rating because that somehow seems to be too small of praise, but since all the pages ask for stars I will give it a 5 out of 5. I would like it noted that it is beyond a 5 star story, Megan Hand has created something totally unique within this book that is captivating. I am an avid reader as you all know, but few books get inside me in a way that I feel like I am living the events as they unfold; Bitter Angel is one of those few. The writing style is amazingly smooth and the editing is as flawless as I have ever seen from an Indie author. Hand has an knack for writing witty characters who are each wholly their own personalities. I don’t know why, but a lot of writers tend to have the same flavor to each character in a story, almost like Stepford-wives kind of feel to them. Hand has completely broken the Stepford mold. Lila is witty, snarky, and laugh out loud hilarious. Jay, oh Jay, he is boy next door meets hot guy meets the one we all want to marry; in other words the PERFECT man. Did I mention he plays guitar AND sings? (total swoonfest ladies!) Then we get the bffs; Nilah and Heather they are Lila’s right and left hand ladies. They are without a doubt the type of friends who would end up laughing their asses off in the jail cell next to you after pulling some crazy scheme instead of bailing your ass out after you’ve gone and done something foolish. Actually, they were probably the ones that got you into the foolishness to begin with, but we won’t mince words. Obviously, there are bad guys, I don’t want any spoilers, but when I say bad… I mean BAD. The mystery and thrills are a mile a minute in this book. There was never a moment I was bored thinking ‘lets get on with it’ in fact I found myself trying to cheat and look ahead to see what on Earth was going to happen next! And just when I swore I had it figured out and I just KNEW how it was going to go BAM! Hand comes out of left field and knocks me on my ass. It has been a long time since I have read such an action packed story that had substance. Friendship, love, mystery, thrills and chills, even a smidge of the paranormal Bitter Angel has it all. Megan Hand has proven to be an author to watch. With lines like “Hindsight is just a torturous game of fuck you.” there is no way she can do anything but succeed.Reviewed by Mommy's a Book (W)hore. less
