review 1: The "Sports Illustrated" brand has teamed with Capstone to bring an athletic theme to books for beginners. This baseball story takes us, simply, to a nighttime ball game in a stadium that the illustrator says reminds her of Dodger's at dusk. Forshay created a vintage look by using a "color palette similar to that of old baseball cards." As we follow a boy and his dad through runs, hits, and snacks, the cadence and rhyme make for a relaxing bedtime read. The last few pages are so similar to "Goodnight Moon" that it is surprising that attribution was not made.
review 2: I feel that this book would be great for really little kids but for the kids that are a little older it may not have enough of a story to keep their interest. While I like that it briefly talk
... mores about the different aspects of baseball and the child says goodnight to the different parts of the field and the players I was left wanting a little more. Maybe this is because I love baseball a lot that it left me wanting more. less
