review 1: The main character in this story is Paul Russo, a man whose wife passed away from cancer and he's left caring for his children. Grieving is a hard pace for any normal person, but add in the potential of a demonic being holding your wife hostage on the other side. Paul finds himself heading to a hundred year old mansion with clues just as old. Michael Phillip Cash does a really good job with developing characters and stories, as mentioned in The Hanging Tree's review. I thoroughly enjoy his ability to create the story. I was intrigued and maintained interest throughout the story line. As a paranormal investigator, and someone who has an active interest in spirit activity, I found that the author did a fantastic job building up the paranormal suspense without being cheesy o... morer overdoing it. The family in the story, Paul and his children, find themselves in a creepy, suspenseful paranormal scenario as they try to figure out the ghosts and demons holding their loved one. I read this book at night, in the dark by book light, and I can say there were a few times that I was tense and on edge. This is true ability in an author who can engage the reader in this manner.I found the only thing lacking was the ending. It's a wonderful paranormal love story, and I'm not entirely sure how he could have ended it otherwise. I think that the more that this author continues to write and produce novels, his skill and abilities will continue to strengthen and grow.
review 2: I loved this book! I have to admit I was predisposed to love it because of it's setting because I grew up on Long Island. I loved the way the author wove the historical connection that one can feel in older homes, and how the love of finding out the historical backgrounds of people and places can add depth of understanding. The story itself was manifold, and I loved getting caught up in the entire plot and characters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a great tale. less

if it wasn't for the detailed cancer story line, I would have enjoyed it more.
