review 1: One of the best books I have ever read in my life.....the story of a boy who was torn apart from family because of partition between two countries.....lost his family.......having a very bleak view of his future.....from there the sequence of events happened in his life(like an angel blessed on his life) lead to where he is now....a world renowed athlete....A definite read for those who think that they are on the downturn of their life....:)
review 2: This book is literally the "Race" of Milkha's life. His life was dominated by separation. This explains why he simply keeps running, not away from his problems, but just to face them. This book is just like "The Alchemist" or "The Autobiography of a Yogi", in the sense of how a man with little idea of how his life
... more is to change in the future, takes bold decisions and ends up being extremely successful.Being a man who speaks his mind, Milkha frankly writes of the current state of Indian sports, Indian politics and also includes a brief on the Commonwealth Games fiasco. It is interesting to see that the first few pages include a writeup by Jeev Milkha Singh on his father, while Milkha writes a complete chapter about his son towards the end of the book. This shows how proud and respectful both are of each other. The "Race" shows that courage, dedication, discipline and hard-work are all that makes man successful. less
